Behind the Scenes with The Empwr
The Empwr is more than just a coworking studio – it’s a sanctuary for expats, entrepreneurs, and creatives to find grounding, growth, and genuine connection in a new town. From yoga to community events, founder-led insights and a welcoming space make it a true local gem. The honest reflections of overwhelm, cultural challenge, and ambition will resonate with anyone who has started something from scratch in a new place. The Empwr's story is one of hope, honesty, and heart – making you feel like you’re not alone in the hustle.
What’s a day in the life of running your business like?
Exhausting, crazy, overwhelming, stressful!!? Haha – isn’t running any business like that? Jokes aside… I’m trying to learn as I go along and live and be the entrepreneur that I want to inspire here. Which is positive and with a belief that anything is possible.
Can you share a memorable moment or challenge you’ve overcome in your journey?
Many of them… from huge renovations, permits, trying to get people through the door. It never stops
What do you love and hate about the digital world?
I hate the way I feel it consumes my life more and more every day that goes by. The way I find myself scrolling endlessly through social media and constantly looking for new inspiration, instead of finding it out in the world. It’s something I’m battling with and trying to control better. I love that it helps me reach more people.
What has been the hardest part of running your business in a foreign town?
Trying to figure out the market here. For me, it sounds and seems like an ideal market. Isolated, lonely expats, entrepreneurs, creatives – all looking for connection. Yet, when it comes to committing to something or actually showing up, it’s very hard to reach people for some reason. Another part is the feeling of competition and scarcity that we have here in this town. I wish it was a place where all of us small entrepreneurs would instead support each other and make the world go around. I hope this is something I can help build, with The EMPWR Community, for the next few years to come.

What’s next for your business – any exciting plans for the future?
Just keep growing, learning, creating new creative opportunities. For every new member, I feel so happy and proud, and I’m so inspired by the people that come and belong here. I hope that soon we will have a bit more momentum.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting a similar business, what would it be?
Sometimes you just have to go for it and stop coming up with all the “what if’s”. There’s no way to perfectly plan the future or calculate all the risks. You can try, you can (and should) weigh in risks and opportunities, but still, at some point, you just have to jump and trust that you will figure it out along the way. And if you don’t – at least you learned something a long the way and can say that you tried!
I'd rather have a life of "oh wells" rather than a life of "what ifs"
